Host Club Leaders and Delegates Workshop – February 2024

Irish Host Leaders and delegates from each regional group held a workshop in Airbnb HQ to discuss the proposed STR registration process is evolving and the possible impact on hosts across the country.

Discussions were held on how best to advocate for ourselves, our local economies and our sector. Breakout groups, based on geographical areas were held with hosts in the same regions working together.

Regional differences were highlighted however, the approach is the same for all hosts.
Tell your story to your local representatives. Reach out to TDs, County Councillors and Senators. Explain to them why your short term rental is important to you and your local economy. Describe to them what your STR means to you and how the uncertainty and lack of clarity is threatening your STR.

An outcome of the workshop is to hold regular online check ins where STR hosts can report their progress with lobbying and enlist the support of others if needed. If you wish to be included email info@saveourstrs.ie.

Presentation in Leinster House – 29th March 2023

Community Leaders were invited by Richard O’Donoghue TD (Independent, Limerick) to give a presentation in the AV room in Leinster House on Wednesday, March 29th at 2pm. We demonstrated how the drafting of new Short Term Tourist Letting Bill will result in a mass exodus both voluntarily and forcibly from the STR market and debunked some of the common misconceptions about STRs.
We were joined by a group pf supporters outside Leinster House and spoke with many public representatives that understood our situation. We also had members attending to watch the Oireachtas Committee Hearing on Tourism that took place on the same day.
